The North Pleasant Valley Desalter Facility will be a long-term community asset that will have positive environmental and economic impacts on the City of Camarillo. Here are a few of the benefits the facility will provide:
- The Project will benefit municipal and agricultural interests in the eastern half of Ventura County, and will help achieve compliance with Environmental Protection Agency’s water quality objectives for the Calleguas Creek watershed.
- The Project will protect groundwater quality by limiting the amount of salt that is entering the Pleasant Valley Groundwater Basin.
- The Project will produce a new source of drinking water by allowing the City to pump from a part of the local groundwater basin that is currently unusable. The water produced will replace imported water purchased from the State Water Project.
- The Project will stabilize water rates reducing reliance on purchased imported water.
